About and methodology

Calculator Suite is a lightweight collection of everyday calculation tools. Calculations run locally in your browser; only the currency converter requests external reference-rate data. The calculator shell can also be installed for offline use.

Finance, dates, and travel

Mortgage estimates use standard monthly amortisation. Compound-interest projections assume monthly compounding and end-of-month contributions. Date differences use calendar days in UTC to avoid daylight-saving errors. Fuel estimates support UK miles per gallon or litres per 100 kilometres.

Scientific calculations

The calculator supports normal arithmetic precedence, parentheses, powers, percentages, factorials, constants, and common trigonometric and logarithmic functions. Angle calculations can use degrees or radians.

Currency

Currency conversions use daily mid-market reference rates supplied by Frankfurter. They are useful for estimates, not live trading or the final amount charged by a bank or card provider. The date and fallback status appear beside every result.

BMI

BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. The displayed adult categories are broad screening ranges, not a diagnosis, and may not be appropriate for children, pregnancy, or some body compositions.

Loans and tips

The loan estimate assumes a fixed APR, equal monthly payments, no fees, and no rate changes. Actual lender schedules can differ. Tip results simply divide the entered total evenly across the selected number of people.

Rounding

Money is displayed to two decimal places. Other results are displayed with up to eight decimal places, while calculations retain greater internal precision.
